You may need to take action to protect your propane system before, during and after bad weather hits to ensure the safe operation of your system.
- If flooding is predicted for your area, turn off the gas valve at the cylinder or tank before water damage can occur. Do not turn the gas back on until it’s been determined safe to do so by a qualified propane professional.
- After the waters recede, have a qualified propane professional check the entire propane system and appliances. All parts should be inspected for damage, cleaned and replaced if necessary by a qualified propane service professional.
- In the event of heavy snow, the snow and ice should be cleared from the tank, valves, piping, gauges, chimneys, vents and flues to prevent damage.
- If you suspect something is wrong with your propane system or equipment after the storm, call a qualified propane professional.
